The Bangarpet police on Wednesday arrested three people in connection with the murder of a history-sheeter from the city.

A car allegedly used for the crime as well as the weapons were also recovered from them. The accused are Sharavan alias Shain (37), V. Sukumar (45) and V. Sadiq (24).

They have cases registered against them in Bengaluru. According to Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) Superintendent of Police B.S. Lokeshkumar, the arrest has helped solve the murder of Murthy alias Yesu, a resident of Bengaluru.

Murthy’s body, initially unidentified, was found near the railway bridge at Beerandahalli village under the Bangarpet police limits on June 20. The police then found out that Murthy had cases registered against him at the HAL, Jnanabharati and MICO Layout police stations in connection with several robberies and murders.

The trio were traced to a hideout in Belur Ambedkar Nagar in HAL police limits.

They had allegedly taken Murthy from Bengaluru on the pretext of giving him some work on June 19. They then attacked Murthy with weapons before leaving him near the railway bridge, the police said.

According to Mr. Lokeshkumar, Somashekar, a head constable at the fingerprints section in the Kolar SP’s office, helped identify Murthy’s body within just three hours. “This helped us trace the culprits in the case. A special team was formed and they succeeded in nabbing the accused,” he said
