Three candidates were declared elected through a lucky dip. One was in Ramasagar Grama Panchayat in Hosapete taluk and two in Koppal districts after the first round of counting was completed.

The counting of votes began in the respective taluk headquarters – seven in Ballari district and four in Koppal district – from 8 a.m. onwards.

Deviramma and Durgamma secured 255 votes each in Ramasagar and the Returning officer put both the names written on chits in a box, in which a lucky Deviramma was declared elected.

In Madanur Gram Panchayat in Koppal district, Chetan Bariker and Somappa, contesting in Devalapur, polled 130 votes each and Chetan was lucky to emerge as winner in the lucky dip.

Similarly in Sankanal Gram Panchayat, Basavaraj was declared elected through lottery.

Other Winners :

Kote Nagaraj of Ibrahimpur in Ballari taluk secured his fourth win this time. In the four elections he had contested in the past, he had won for three times and had lost the previous election.

Neelamma, contesting from fourth ward in Sindigeri Grama Panchayat in Ballari taluk defeated her rival by a single vote, while Somalingamma in Siriwar Gram Panchayat won by a margin of two votes.

Vijay Pratap Simha, doing his MSW, emerged victorious by securing three votes more than his rival in ward number three of Moka Gram Panchayat.

Celebrations:

A sea of people had gathered outside the counting centres. Even as the results started coming out, the crowd used to become jubilant on hearing the announcement of its candidate being declared elected.

Police had a tough time in maintaining order outside the counting centres. At times, police were forced to wield 'lathis' to maintain order and keep the crowd behind the barricades.

At Koppal too, police had to resort to mild lathi charge when the crowd became uncontrollable.
