Theatre fest in Raichur from Sunday

Ranga Vaibhava, a three-day theatre festival, is scheduled to begin from Sunday at Pandit Siddarama Jambaladinni auditorium, in Raichur. The event would be organised jointly by Bhagat Samskritika Seva Sangha and Department of Kannada and Culture.

Addressing a press conference at Reporters Guild here on Saturday, V.N. Akki, theatre artiste and president of Bhagat Samskritika Seva Sangha, said that three plays will be staged in the fest.

“Samudaya, a theatre group from Dharwad, will stage Devara Hena on Sunday which is based on a short story by the same name authored by Kum. Veerabhadrappa. Two more plays Kempu Hoovu and Kadlimatti Kashibai will be staged by Halekote group from Sirgupaa in Ballari district and Ranga Kanasu theatre group from Raichur on Monday and Tuesday respectively. Theatre songs would be performed each day just before the start of the plays,” he said.

Entry will be free for all, he added.

As per the details, Mahantesh Maski, Raichur district president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat would inaugurate the event and Nijalingappa, Assistant Director, Department of Kannada and Culture and Mallanagowda Indapur, a senior theatre artist, would be chief guest.
