Theatre fest from Sept. 24

Theatre repertoire Rangayana will conduct will conduct a theatre festival for college students from September 24. This will also be dovetailed with Navaratri Rangothsava thus extending the duration of the event.

B.V.Karanth Collegu Rangotsava, being conducted in the last few years, will feature 8 to 10 college troupes presenting plays. This year, nine troupes have been selected from colleges in Mysuru, Mandya and Kodagu. In all, 300 students will be involved in staging of plays. The festival will be inaugurated by theatre artiste and director Sanjay Upadhyay from New Delhi. Chidambaraao Jambe, theatre personality and former Rangayana director, will preside.

The organisers said that all plays from September 24 to 28 will be staged by students while subsequent ones staged till October 5 will be part of Navaratri Rangothsava. The plays are as follows.

September 24: Anishchitha- e-Badaku by students of Shanti Art, Science and Commerce College students of Malavalli

September 25: Bombbat Beechi by students of HES Higher Education Society, T. Narsipura

September 26: King Lear by students of Government First Grade College, K.R. Pet

September 27: Purana Prahasana by students of Ursu First Grade College, Hunsur

September 28: Ravi Nadiya Dandeyalli by students of District Institute of Education and Training, Kodagu

September 29 : Haider by students of Government first grade college, Mandya

October 2: Kanchu Gannadi by students of Mahajana PU College

October 4: Yuddha Mugivudadare by students of Sri Nataraja Women’s Residential First Grade College, Mysuru

October 5: Bakavaliya Huvu by students of St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru.
