Twelve Kannada actors are braving the blazing heat to garner votes for the parties they are supporting. A few A-listers, however, are on a sticky wicket as all three political parties — the BJP, Congress and JD(S) — are pulling them in different directions.

Yash, who does not support any party, says he prefers to lend his star power to candidates he likes. He has taken a 10-day break to campaign on their behalf. His choice, the actor says, are either candidates he knows personally or who have worked for the welfare of the people.

The actor is campaigning for Sa. Ra. Mahesh from the JD(S); H.M. Revanna, Vinay Kulkarni and M.B. Patil from the Congress, and BJP’s C.M. Udasi, S.A. Ramadas and Satish Reddy, to name a few.

It was rumoured that Mr. Yash would campaign for Sriramulu in Badami. However, Water Resources Minister M.B. Patil refuted the rumours and said: “Mr. Yash has respect for the Chief Minister. He spoke to me over phone and said he will campaign for me in Babhaleshwar Assembly constituency.”

Actor Darshan was reportedly not keen on campaigning this election season even though his mother Meena Thoogudeepa is a Congress worker, but finally agreed to campaign for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

He campaigned for the Chief Minister in Chamundeshwari constituency in Mysuru, but faced the wrath of JD(S) workers in Naganahalli. According to sources close to Mr. Darshan, the actor will be campaigning for Congress candidate Munirathna in R.R. Nagar constituency. Mr. Munirathna incidentally is the producer of his big budget film Kurukshetra .
