In view of intelligence inputs regarding terrorist threats to the western coast of India, the Goa police have tightened the verification of the antecedents of persons renting out residential accommodation or staying in hotels, lodging and boarding, private guest houses, paying guest accommodation of religious bodies and so on.

The District Magistrate, north Goa, on Thursday ordered owners of residential accommodation and hotels and other places to verify the bonafides of the persons staying there. The guests should produce a proof of identity, such as voter’s id, driving licence, smart card, passport, etc., and should also fill in the verification form and the same should be furnished to the local police station.

This order will come into effect from Friday.
