The Chamarajanagar police seem to have cracked the Sulwadi temple ‘prasada’ case that has claimed 15 lives. They are expected to make arrests soon.
More than 10 suspects had been detained and questioned by the police, who were claiming to have got “clinching evidence”.
Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Kumar Meena told The Hindu : “I cannot disclose the investigation details, but I can say that the probe is in its last stage or almost done. We have made significant progress.”
The police had registered an FIR and the names of Chinnappi, a temple trustee, Madesha, a manager at the temple, and Tambadi Mahadeva had figured in it. The police had questioned a few others, including Ambika, wife of Madesha, who is in police custody. Immadi Mahadevaswamy, junior seer of Salur Mutt and president of the temple management committee, was also questioned.
On whether the rift was the cause for poisoning, Mr. Meena said there were many angles and this was one of them that was probed prominently leading to the “possible breakthrough”, he said.
