Asserting that the technology is fast developing, Deputy Commissioner Y.S. Patil has said that they must be adopted for the needs of Karnataka.

Delivering the Rajyotsava speech after unfurling the national flag at the district stadium on Friday, he said that Kannada would not remain the same after 25 years as it had seen numerous changes over the decades.

“For the enhancement and enrichment of Kannada, we must develop new technology. We must adopt Kannada in the same speed that of advancing technology,” he said.

Mr. Patil said that languages such as Chinese, Japanese and German achieved global recognition because they adopted new technologies.

Declaring that Kannada is not inferior to any other language, Mr. Patil said that several Kannada writers receiving the Jnanapith award is clear evidence for it.

Admiring the Sharanas of the State for showing way of life to people through their vachanas, he said that they also immensely contributed for the growth of Kannada.

Stating that every Kannadigas must work for the preservation of Kannada culture, Mr. Patil said that only a united fight would help in saving our culture.

He said that language is vital for the four-cornered development of any individual.

On the occasion, he recalled the contribution of activists and writers who help Kannada to grow and effectively face the hegemony of other languages.

Later, awards were given to people for their contribution in various fields. Manjunath Kunsur of Vijay Karnataka, Devendra Helawar of Lok Darshan, Kannada dailies, and Shashikant Mendegar of Digvijay TV were given award for their contribution in the field of journalism.

Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, MLA, Arun Shahapur, MLC, Prakash Nikam, SP, and noted persons of the district were present at the occasion.
