Teachers demand more from Hyderabad Karnataka development board

The North-East Teachers’ Association on Thursday demanded that the government extend employment opportunities to graduates or provide interest-free loans to the tune of ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh for self-employment through the Hyderabad Karnataka Regional Development Board (HKRDB).

Speaking to reporters, association president M.B. Ambalagi demanded that the State government waive education loans across the State. He also alleged that the HKRDB has done little to utilise the funds allocated to remove regional disparities. The board should provide grants to unaided educational institutions in Hyderabad Karnataka region to bring about a transformation by providing quality education he added.

Prof. Ambalagi said the government should extend reservation benefits to the Kannada-medium students appearing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). He urged the Karnataka Public Service Commission to give priority to candidates who have passed II PUC, JOC, JLC, JODC examinations in recruitments to the post of typewriter.

The government should award grace marks to the candidates from Hyderabad Karnataka region appearing for the National Eligibility Test (NET), the Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) and the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET), and also increase the age limit for recruitment of police sub-inspectors, Prof. Ambalagi added.
