Tanveer Sait seeks land for school buildings

January 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - Mysuru:

Tanveer Sait, MLA, has complained that over 10 government schools are functioning in rented buildings in N.R. Assembly constituency in Mysuru city and he appealed to Revenue Minister V. Srinivas Prasad to provide land to such schools. Participating in a meeting on the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan for 2015-16 here on Tuesday, Mr. Sait said he had discussed the matter with higher-ups in the corporation and Mysuru Urban Development Authority. But both sets of officials pleaded their inability to give sites within city limits saying there was no vacant land. Both also said that they would give CA sites on the outskirts of the city. However, Mr. Sait said that travelling 4 or 5 km to attend school would be difficult for students.

The Minister asked the MLA to identify any vacant land in his constituency and said he would get it sanctioned for schools. He also assured the MLA that he would ask the authorities to identify a few places where schools could have their own buildings that would be accessible to children from his constituency.
