Taluk panchayat member arrested for assaulting woman

Bangarpet police have arrested a taluk panchayat member on charges of assaulting a woman. Police gave the name of the accused as Hunkunda Venkatesh. He was remanded in judicial custody.

In a complaint lodged with the police, Kamandahalli resident Chowdamma had alleged that Venkatesh pulled her hair and abused her when she was measuring the land near her house a couple of days ago.

The accused also abused Chowdamma’s husband and threatened them with dire consequences if the incident was reported to anybody.

The police have arrested Venkatesh based on the complaint by the woman.

Arrested for murder

Srinivasapur police on Monday arrested a man on charges of murdering his wife. The police gave the name of the arrested as Nareppa (35).

He allegedly murdered his wife Ramadevi at a farm house near Somayajalapalli in Srinivasapur taluk on Sunday by hacking her with a machete.

The reason for the killing was yet to be ascertained. Nareppa was remanded in judicial custody.

Man arrested for raping sister-in-law

Masti police in Malur taluk have arrested a man on charges of raping his sister-in-law who came to the village to assist his pregnant wife. Police gave the name of the accused as Prabhakar (28).

He reportedly took the minor girl to a isolated place on Saturday night and sexually assaulted her. He also threatened to kill her if the incident was revealed to the family members.

The girl filed a complaint with the police following which the accused was arrested.
