Taiwanese company to invest ₹3,000 crore in State

Taiwan-based company Wistron Technologies has come forward to invest ₹3,000 crore in Narasapura industrial area of Kolar. An expert team of the firm called upon the Chief Minister on Tuesday and held discussions.

The Chief Minister welcomed the idea of this huge investment in the State and asked the company to submit a proposal for grant of land, which is required for expansion. He also suggested the company to set up a mobile repair and technology facility in the area as technicians in this field are in demand.

Gururaj, who is the country head of the company in India, said the iPhone manufacturing unit, which is being established on 43 acres in Narasapura, is going to be the biggest project of this type in the country. It will generate 10,500 employment opportunities to the local population and the company intends to expand the unit.

R.V. Deshpande, Minister for Revenue Department, who was also present, said that a MoU can be signed in a week provided the company assures to provide employment to Kannadigas.
