A group of youngsters chased a car, allegedly carrying stolen calves, and stopped and handed it over to Hariharapura police at Sigadalu in Koppa taluk on Sunday.
According to the police, around 3 a.m. on Sunday, unknown people took away two calves from a cattleshed belonging to Bhujanga Shetty of Sigadalu. Youngsters who noticed the crime followed the vehicle and stopped it. Those in the car fled.
The Hariharapura police registered a complaint under the sections of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. They returned the calves to Mr. Shetty.
