Asare, a service project of Manipal University, and Archana Trust, along with the Sports and Cultural Academy for Differently Abled, Bengaluru, will organise a one-day State-level swimming competition for persons with mental disabilities at the MIT swimming pool here on February 8.
Vasanth Kumar Shetty, executive director of the academy, said that the event would be held for men and women in different age groups and on their higher and lower ability in accordance with the Swimming Federation of India rules.
Only the swimmers in the relevant age groups will be eligible to take part in the championships. Age and disability certificates, duly signed by the Head of the Educational Institution or a First Class Magistrate or even the Municipal Corporation must be submitted along with complete entry forms to Jai Vittal, Estate Officer, Manipal University and convener of the meet through email: jai.vittal@manipal.edu.
Every swimmer can take part in a maximum of two events.
