Stage set for classical music and dance festival

Five-day Pallavothsava will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily

The city-based Vasundhara Performing Arts Centre Trust will conduct Pallavothsava – a classical music and dance festival from September 22 to 26 at Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

It will feature renowned artistes from across the country. Entry is free.

A release stated that there will be a thematic presentation on ‘Panchamahabhuta’ on September 22 by senior disciples of Vasundhara Doraswamy portraying the elements of nature. On September 23,there will be a presentation by Kathak exponent Madhuri Apte, who is also a visiting faculty at Centre for Performing Arts, Pune University, and has given more than 500 performances and organised workshops at both international and national levels.

The audience can look forward to an Odissi performance by Nritya Shukla Jyoti Sumedha Sengupta who is a Doordarshan artist and also a Programme Assistant at IGNCA, Ranchi.

On September 24, there will be a presentation by Rohita Pradhan, percussionist in Odissi and Mrudanga (Kholo), and has performed in prestigious festivals across the country. In addition, there will be a performance by Sitakant Jena, an alumni of Utkal University of Culture, Bhubaneshwar. Other artistes who will perform on the same day include Guru Kelu Charan Mohapatra performer Awardee Srinibas Ghatuary (milan) who is an accomplished Odissi dancer. This will be followed by a Bharatnatyam performance by Radhika Iyengar who is the disciple of Nandini Eswer and Dr. Rohitha Eswer.

Carnatic concert

On September 25, there will be a carnatic concert by Vidushi Vijayavani Navilooru who runs Ragamalika Kala Shale in Mysuru and is a B grade artist of Akashavani Mysuru and Mangaluru.

The day will also include a kathak presentation by Srishti Gupta, assistant guru, Chakradhar Nritya Kendra, Ustad Alauddin Khan Sangeet Academy.

Kuchipudi performance

There will be a Kuchipudi performance by Rakhi Kamani, who has three decades of performing experience and is currently training in Kuchipudi at Nritta Nritya Natya in Bengaluru.

On September 26, there will be a Hindustani vocal concert by Nayan Yavagal, which will be followed by a Bharatnatyam performance by C.S. Pooja and a Kuchipudi presentation by Anusha Kalluri who is also a part of dance resource centre – Natyamitram.
