Speaker sets up panel to look into misconduct

February 09, 2012 10:03 am | Updated 10:03 am IST - BANGALORE:

Announcing the constitution of a five-member inquiry committee to probe into Tuesday's episode in the Assembly, Speaker K.G. Bopaiah said that notices had been issued to Laxman S. Savadi, C.C. Patil and J. Krishna Palemar asking them to reply before 10.30 a.m. on February 13. The leaders of the three parties in the House would suggest the names of the members and the committee would submit a report by March 12.

The House, which met for the last time during the day after a prolonged business advisory committee meeting in the chamber of the Speaker, again witnessed dharna. Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda requested the Speaker to constitute a committee.

The Chief Minister also moved a resolution to thank the Governor for his address, which was passed by a voice vote amid sloganeering by the Congress.
