Speaker grants permission

October 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - BENGLAURU:

Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa has given social activist S.R. Hiremath the permission to present his arguments before the privilege committee of the House through his counsel.

“I have granted permission to Mr. Hiremath to represent his case through an advocate,” Mr. Thimmappa told The Hindu on Sunday .

In 2013, the Speaker had referred a complaint by K.R. Ramesh Kumar, Congress MLA, against Mr. Hiremath to the privileges committee.

Mr. Kumar had alleged that the social activist had been calling him tainted without any proof.
