She, however, keeps her options open

A day after meeting Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, MLA for Jayanagar Sowmya Reddy on Tuesday attended the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting. But speaking to reporters later, she did not rule out her resignation.

Asked if she had any plans to resign from the Assembly, she said: “I have to ask my voters, supporters, and of course my father. Then I will think about it.”

Asked about her father’s resignation, she said: “I think everybody knows why my father has given the resignation. He has explained everything in detail. So, I don’t want to repeat that.”

Mr. Reddy earlier said he was upset with the double standards in the party. The party had sidelined him after formation of the coalition government in the State.

Workers protest

Before commencement of the CLP meeting, a few party workers staged a protest outside the residence of Mr. Reddy and appealed to him to withdraw his resignation to membership of the Legislative Assembly.

Mr. Reddy told his supporters that he had not quit the Congress. But he declined to comment on his resignation.
