Minister in charge of Mysuru V. Somanna on Sunday expressed displeasure over the protest by Mysuru Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath and some councillors, belonging to Opposition parties, over the issue of Dasara passes and argued that the issue should not made political.

The Minister admitted that he was under “pressure”, with everyone wanting passes for the finale.

“How can I get passes for everyone with only a limited number of seats,” he asked.

“Out of 26,000 seats for the finale, around 20,000 passes go to places other than Mysuru. I have been getting calls from New Delhi seeking passes for Dasara,” he added.

He denied the reported claims by the Mayor that she was offered only five passes despite being the first citizen of the city.

“Instead of resorting to protests, they should have discussed the issue with us since everything was going on smoothly since the start of the festivities. MLAs Tanveer Sait and S.R. Mahesh have spoken to me on the issue and we will sort it out,” Mr. Somanna said.
