Snake venom worth Rs. 1.2 crore seized

The Hubli police seized 750 ml of snake venom, reportedly worth Rs. 1.2 crore in the international market, and arrested two persons.

Police Commissioner B.A. Padmanayan said the arrested had been identified as Prashanth Govind Masurkar and Ramo Santan Godeno of Karwar. He added said that they were arrested at a check-post on Karwar Road bypass, following a tip-off on Thursday. The venom, reportedly extracted from a king cobra, was to be used in narcotics, he said. He added that there were many others involved in the racket. A case has been registered.

Lecturer murdered

A college lecturer was found murdered by her husband at her home in Lingarajnagar here on Thursday.

The Police Commissioner said the victim had been identified as Seema, a lecturer at Karnatak College Dharwad.

Her husband, Udaykumar Vittalrao Kamble, who is also a lecturer at a private college here, is absconding. The Vidyanagar police have registered a case.
