Six held; ornaments recovered

The K.R. Pet Town police have arrested six persons on the charge of robbing gold ornaments from gullible people and recovered 130 gm ornaments from them.

The accused have been identified as Hanumakka Nagaraja Desai (47), Manjappa Nagappa (45), Siddarama Maulappa (43), Lakshmamma (45), Jayaram Channaveerappa (40) and Ananda Gangappa (47) from Channagiri taluk in Davangere district.

The arrested were allegedly involved in several cases of robbing gold chains from elderly women in different parts of K.R. Pet taluk, according to Savitha Hugar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (K.R. Pet subdivision).

The accused members used to target lonely persons at isolated places to rob gold ornaments, she said.
