Singer Tanaji Kavalekar dead

North Karnataka's noted singer from and director of ‘Kavalekar’s Sangeet Leharein’, Tanaji Pandurang Kavalekar died here on Sunday after a brief period of illness. He was sixty years old. He is survived by wife, a daughter and mother.

Mr. Tanaji was known for his rendering Hindi film songs and was the main artist of the ‘Kavalekar Musical Party’, under which he toured in various districts of the region enthralling the music enthusiasts.

Mr. Tanaji was also active in theater and was involved in various social welfare works for the poor.
