‘Siddaramaiah should have accompanied PM Modi on Chine tour’

B.S. Yeddyurappa, national Vice President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should take a cue from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who accompanied Prime Minister Narendra Modi to his recent Bangladesh tour.

“Mr. Modi had invited Mr. Siddaramaiah to his recent China tour. Mr. Siddaramaiah could have used the opportunity to apprise the entrepreneurs in China on the investment opportunities in Karnataka. It is unfortunate that, Mr. Siddaramaiah skipped the tour for political reasons. The Congress Government in Karnataka has failed to attract investment and thereby generate new jobs,” told Mr. Yeddyurappa to presspersons here on Monday.

Suvarna Vidhana Soudha

Mr. Yeddyurappa also expressed displeasure that the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Balagavi was not being utilised properly. In wake of the boundary dispute between Karnataka and Maharashtra reaching the Supreme Court, the State Government has announced to conduct the monsoon session in both Bengaluru and Belagavi. Instead, the entire session can be conducted in Belagavi by holding special debates on the development of North Karnataka region.

The State Government has spent more than Rs. 450 crore to construct Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. The offices of Divisional Commissioner and other Government establishments should be shifted to Suvarna Soudha immediately and ensure that it emerges as an important centre for governance, he said.

Tirthahalli Case

Referring to the cases booked by Tirthahalli police against ex-MLA Araga Jnanendra and other BJP leaders on charges of their alleged involvement in the violence that erupted in Tirthahalli town in November last year following the death of a 14-year-old school girl, he said that the State Government is using police to hound political opponents. The police have booked false cases against the BJP leaders who had staged protest demanding for the arrest of the culprits responsible for the death of the minor girl, he said.
