Show-cause notices to be issued to officers

January 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - CHITRADURGA:

The Chitradurga Taluk Panchayat has decided to issue show-cause notices to officials of the Land Army, Nirmiti Kendra, and the Irrigation Department for their alleged failure to handover water tanks to the departments concerned even six months after their completion.

At a review meeting here on Tuesday, the taluk panchayat members pointed out that though elected representatives had instructed the officials to hand over the tanks to solve the drinking water problem in the taluk, the officers had not done so. They also alleged that the officials deliberately remained absent from review meetings as they would have to answer the questions from elected representatives.

The members also said that these departments were asked to construct 26 tanks in different localities by spending Rs 10 lakh for each tank. As they had not been handed over to the departments concerned, it would be difficult to check the quality of work. “If water is not filled in them for long, there are possibilities that cracks may develop,” they added.

The members also demanded that doctors be recruited in government hospitals in the taluk. Taluk panchayat executive officer Lingaraj and taluk pancayt president Raj Kumar said a letter would be written to the State government.

Republic Day

Mr. Lingaraj said that the Deputy Commissioner would initiate disciplinary action against officials who failed to attend Republic Day celebrations on January 26 at 8 a.m. Taluk Panchayat vice-president Rangamma was present.
