Short film ‘Chowki’ wins accolades

‘Chowki,’ a short film directed by Ganesh Kelamane, has secured the first place in ‘Ambegalu,’ a short film contest held under the aegis of Bellimandala, the district unit of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy and Yugadharma Janapada Samiti.

The competition had received 54 entries. The jury panel comprised directors B. Suresh and B.S. Lingadevaru, and film lyricist M.N. Vyasa Rao.

‘Hakkemane,’ directed by Guruprasad Devadi, was selected as the second best short film and ‘L.S. Medical Miracle,’ a short film on the theme of medical science directed by Deeksha bagged the third spot. The following short films have won consolation prizes — Ghanmandri Cross; Paridhi; Study Holidays; Yarivaravaru; Story of Tusker and Nirmana.

The list of personal award winners is as follows — S.R. Girish (best actor- Yarivaravaru); Sandhya Shastry (best actress- Swartha); Shashank (best editing- Parakaya); Uday (best cinematography- Ghanmandri Cross); Ganesh Kelamane (best director- Chowki); Guruprasad Devadiga (best music- Hakkemane) and Mahantesh Devagiri (best story- Paridhi).

The best three short films were awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively. The short films that won the consolation prize and those who have got personal awards got a cash reward of Rs. 2,000 each.
