Shiradi Ghat, the crucial link between Bengaluru and the coast, will be open for all kinds of vehicles, including trucks, from 6 a.m. on Thursday.
Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner S. Sasikanth Senthil made the announcement in a communique here.
The stretch was initially closed for traffic between January-July this year to facilitate concreting. Landslips triggered by torrential rains forced its closure during August third week. While it was opened for light motor vehicles from September 5, buses were allowed from October second week.
Truck operators had been demanding opening of the Ghat as they were suffering heavy losses operating via circuitous routes.
There were at least 12 landslips where river embankments had collapsed. NH division of State PWD and NHAI are yet to permanently restore the damaged stretches.
