A stretch of the Shiradi Ghat

While a twitter campaign with hash tag #connectustomangalore is trending with nearly 4,000 tweets on Friday, Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda wrote to Karnataka PWD Minister H.D. Revanna saying Shiradi Ghat can be opened within a week.

Concerned citizens have launched the campaign as the coast and hinterlands remained almost cut-off for over a week. Friday was chosen for the mass campaign.

Mr. Gowda in his letter said Shiradi Ghat can be opened within a week after restoration as per inputs from officials and local residents. There should not be any delay in opening it as residents of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in Karnataka and north Kerala are suffering immensely, he added.
