March 12, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - Hassan:

The Karnataka Sahitya Academy conducted a seminar on the poetry of young Kannada poets titled ‘Yuva Spandana’ in the district on Friday.

The poetry of Veeranna Madiwalar, Arif Raja, Lakkur C. Anand and Kavya Kadame were discussed in the seminar.

The poets chosen for the seminar were all recipients of Central Sahitya Academy awards.

Noted poet S. Manjunath inaugurated the seminar. “The present time is not one for poetry. Now is the time for opinions. Nobody has time for poetry since everybody is engaged in expressing opinions,” he said.

Dr. Malathi Pattanashetty, president of Karnataka Sahitya Academy, said that the academy had planned many literary programmes for the benefit of college students.
