Pickets would be posted and round the clock patrolling done to maintain law and order, he said, adding peace committee meetings have been held with various communities, who have assured cooperation for peaceful observance of the festival.

Home Minister R Asoka has held such meetings with businessmen, hoteliers, shopkeepers and public who have assured “food, shelter and security to the people from the North East,” he said.

Shopkeepers and neighbours in areas where these people reside have been requested to help them in case of any eventuality, Mr. Mirji said.
