Seat sharing: Congress screening committee to meet on Monday

A screening committee of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) will meet in Delhi on Monday to decide the formula to share seats with its coalition partner Janata Dal (Secular).

Congress president Rahul Gandhi is expected to chair the meeting to be attended by KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara, and AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka K.C. Venugopal.

The meeting is also expected to finalise candidates for some of the constituencies.

Sources said the Congress was unlikely to give up the Lok Sabha constituencies being held by its members to the JD(S).

The JD(S) is expected to get eight seats in the State and one seat each in Kerala and Maharashtra as part of the seat-sharing understanding with the Congress.
