Schools in a fix

June 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - Mysuru:

Though celebrating International Yoga Day is not mandatory in schools, the authorities here are in a dilemma as to how to get students to attend the session as June 21 is a Sunday. The office of the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), Mysuru, has got an order from the Deputy Commissioner, Mysuru, to celebrate the day.

So, block education officers (BEOs) have been given instruction s to rope in yoga instructors for holding a 33-minute session from 7 a.m. on June 21 in schools in Mysuru district.

“We hope to get at least a few students to watch the session. As June 21 is a Sunday, it is difficult to get all students to attend the session. However, it’s not mandatory for the students,” an official said.

None of the schools have yoga instructors and therefore they are banking on the private instructors for the presentation.
