Schoolgirl takes out ‘jatha’ on creating education awareness

A seventh standard student of a Government School in Hemadala in Chitradurga district who is also a fan of the deceased IAS officer D.K. Ravi is on a “jatha” to create awareness about education from Doddakoppalu village in Tumakuru district to Kolar from Wednesday.

After paying respects to the samadhi of D.K. Ravi at Doddakoppalu village, the student, Lavanya started a jatha with her father on a motorcycle on Wednesday.

H.C. Lavanya said, “I am inspired by the honesty and principles followed by D.K. Ravi and wanted to do this jatha. Mr. Ravi gave a lot of importance to education and hence I started this jatha on his birthday.”

She said that she had read about Mr. Ravi’s initiative of providing coaching to candidates of competitive examinations and wanted every child to get education.

She said that during the jatha, they would make a stop at the villages on their way to Kolar and talk to people about the importance of education.

Lavanya’s father, Chennakeshava is a farmer and social activist who agreed to take his daughter on this special trip after she disclosed her wishes to him. He said that it will take 20 days to reach Kolar.

Meanwhile, the fans of deceased IAS officer, D.K. Ravi assembled on his 37th birthday at his samadhi in Doddakoppalu and conducted puja. They distributed cake and notebooks to students.
