The K.R. Pet Town police conducted a special drive at Bommanayakanahalli Gate on the K.R. Pet-Melkote road in the district and seized three trucks illegally transporting sand.

Nevertheless, no arrests were made in connection with the seizure as men in the trucks fled the scene on seeing the police personnel.

According to senior police officials, sub-inspector H.N. Vinay headed the team that conducted the drive on Friday.

The accused persons were transporting sand, illegally extracted from either a riverbed or other waterbody, in the trucks, a senior police officer said here on Saturday.

A case has been registered against unidentified persons, the police said.
