Raju Kulageri, president of the Hyderabad Karnataka Yuva Horata Samiti, has floated a new political outfit, Hyderabad Karnataka Rajya Samiti, and announced boycott of the Rajyotsava Day celebrations on November 1 raising the demand for Statehood.

He told presspersons on Friday that that the Hyderabad Karnataka Yuva Horata Samiti had been disbanded and the new organisation would intensify the movement for Statehood for the Hyderabad Karnataka region. Dr. Kulageri said that the samiti would not hoist a separate flag on November 1, as doing so on previous occasions did not have an impact on the government. “We want to take the agitation demanding separate State to the next level by contesting in the elections and sending our representatives to the elected bodies.” To a question, he said that the samiti would not support or participate in the proposed hoisting of a separate State flag by other groups. The Kalayana Karnataka Rajya Horata Samiti had said that it would boycott the celebrations and hoist a separate State flag as a mark of protest on November 1.Dr. Kulageri said that the samiti was forced to revive its demand for a separate State as the State government had failed to bridge the gap in development and bring about equality in development for all the regions in the State. To another question, Dr. Kulageri said that it had been proved beyond doubt that formation of smaller States would result in faster development of the region and carving out a new State comprising six districts of the region would signal the end of disparities in development.
