Sainik School boys emerge victorious

Sainik School of Vijayapura has won the Dharwad regional finals of the Rural IT Quiz for students of classes 8 to 12 organised by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in association with the Department of IT, BT and Science and Technology.

In the regional finals held in Dharwad on October 15, students from Gadag, Koppal, Bagalkot, Bidar, Raichur, Kalaburgi, Dharwad, Vijayapur, Uttara Kannada, Haveri, Belgaum and Yadgir participated. After a preliminary written round, six teams qualified for the final round held on the stage at Dr. Patil Puttappa Sabhabhavan in Dharwad. And finally, in a close contest having five rounds and based on the theme of artificial intelligence, Guruprasad Basavaraj and Mahesh S. Panchakshari won the regional finals, beating Gurushanth Gogga and C.S. Manikrishna from Rashtrotthana Vidya Kendra. However, both the teams qualified for the State Finals of Rural IT Quiz to be held in Tumkur on October 20.

The quiz is aimed at enhancing IT awareness among rural students.
