The 10th district Kannada Sahitya Sammelan being organised by the district Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) is expected to highlight various issues concerning the development of Kannada language, literature and cultural traits in the border areas of the State.
The two-day literary meet is scheduled to be held at Gachhin Mutt Hall at Athani, 145 km from here on Friday. The main entrance gate has been named after veteran literary personality from north Karnataka Buddanna Hingamire, while the main stage is named after Sri Murugharajendra Shivayogi Swami.
The celebrations will commence with a flag-hoisting ceremony followed by a cultural procession in the morning. Kannada Development Authority president L. Hanumanthaiah will inaugurate the literary meet. Chairman of the Reception Committee Laxman Savadi, MLA will preside. Former Belagavi district KSP president Basavaraj Jagajampi, who has been unanimously elected as the conference president, will address the gathering.
The inaugural function will be followed by sessions on various topics and cultural programmes later in the evening. The valedictory of the event will be held on Saturday afternoon.
