RTI: official faces penalty

June 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - KALABURAGI:

The Karnataka Information Commission (KIC) has imposed a penalty of Rs. 6,000 on Rajashekkar Doddamani, Project Director and Public Information Officer of the Nirmiti Kendra in Kalaburagi for his failure to provide information sought under the Right to Information Act.

State Information Commissioner M.R. Pujar took serious exception to Mr. Doddamani’s failure and gave him an opportunity to file a written explanation within 15 days to the commission, for the show cause notice issued against him earlier.

He sought details of Annual Report of Kalaburagi Nirmiti Kendra from 2005 to 2012.

However, Mr. Doddamani did not provide any details and failed to give a reasonable explanation to the commission.

Mr. Doddamani has been directed to pay the imposed penalty of Rs.6,000 within 30 days to the Government Treasury.
