RSS ready to support anyone in anti-corruption movement

March 10, 2014 01:36 am | Updated May 19, 2016 07:25 am IST - BANGALORE:

Suresh ‘Bhaiyyaji’ Joshi, Sarkaryavah of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Sunday said the sangh and affiliated organisations were committed to fighting corruption and were prepared to support like-minded organisations.

He told presspersons on the concluding day of the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha that swayamsevaks would involve in any anti-corruption movement.

Asked how does the sangh view the Aam Aadmi Party, Mr. Joshi said new parties were formed in a democracy and only time would decide who was right.

“If they are indeed capable of fighting corruption, the sangha will support them too,” he said.

On the sangh’s relations with the Bharatiya Janata Party, Mr. Joshi said the RSS did not interfere in the internal affairs of the party. BJP leaders were capable to deal with the situation, he said. While the sangh still endorsed the view that new faces should get opportunity, guidance and experience of older generation too were required for any organisation.

He said during the three-day event, the sangh took stock of the developments in the past year and planned future course of action.

The sangh wants to take the message of importance of ‘Go Raksha’ and ‘Go Seva’ to the people as the economic and cultural ethos of the nation. ‘Gram Vikas’ is another sphere where the sangh is working hard, he said.

In a separate statement, Mr. Joshi termed the book, Holy Hell: A Memoir of Faith, Devotion and Pure Madness by Gail Tredwell, a former devotee of Mata Amritanandamayi, as a despicable attempt by the enemies of Sanatana Dharma and humanity.

“It is an attempt to tarnish the reputation of a great Dharmik movement, the growing influence of which is probably seen as a threat to the fundamentalists.”

He said, “We strongly condemn these shameful attempts to berate a holy saint like Amma and call upon the entire Hindu society and the right thinking world to denounce those behind these machinations as the enemies of humanity.”
