Rs. 13 lakh-surplus budget for CUDA

May 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - CHITRADURGA:

Chitradurga Urban Development Authority (CUDA) Chairman B.T. Jagadish presented a surplus budget of Rs. 13 lakh for the year 2015-16 here on Saturday. Of the total Rs. 13.72 crore budget, the outlay would be Rs. 13.59 crore.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, he said that the authority has allocated Rs. 3.5 crore for providing facilities to different layouts and maintenance.

Rs. 40 lakh has been allocated for paying interests for loans taken from different banks. The authority is expecting Rs. 1 crore income from tank development funds.

Since the authority has not developed any layout except the Davangiri extension in 2003-04, it is planning to develop new layouts in 50: 50 ratio with the farmers.

Such a move would play a crucial role in ensuring sites for the needy at reasonable rates. The sites in the layouts developed by the authority will be sold at Rs. 525 sq.ft. for 30x40 sites and Rs. 225 per sq. ft. for 20x30 sites.

The authority has plans to acquire and develop 483 acres of land at Madakaripur, but the farmers are hesitating to provide land.

“If the farmers of this area wish to continue agriculture activities on the said land, the authority will not acquire them. If the farmers tie up with private parties for layout development, they will not be given No Objection Certificates from the authority,” he said.

The authority has started distribution of sites at Kavadigarahatti, where a total of 71 sites have been developed in eight acres with all the necessary facilities.

The application forms are available at ING Vysya and HDFC banks in the city and the last date for filing the applications is May 15, he added.
