The work on widening the 1.11-km stretch of road between HRG Circle and APMC Circle in the city, at an estimated cost of Rs. 12.75 crore, is going on in full swing. The stretch is being developed to have 870-metre six lane in between and 440 metre four-lane on either ends.
In addition, there would be a three-metre space for parking on either side of the road and a bus bay. Of the total Rs. 12.75 crore, Rs. 9.74 crore is for road formation and the rest will be used for shifting of utilities.
“The work is going on round the clock. Already we have constructed a drain. We will soon begin the work of shifting the electrical poles, drinking water and underground drainage pipelines. Going by the fast pace of work, we may complete it in another couple of months,” Raghavendra, Assistant Executive Engineer, PWD, told The Hindu .
Circle to be developed
Mr. Raghavendra said that Deputy Commissioner Sameer Shukla has entrusted the PWD to improve the HRG Circle and has sanctioned Rs. 30 crore for the purpose.
