Road safety as a way of life

The 26th National Road Safety Week with its emphasis on making road safety a way of life, got underway in the city on Tuesday.

The concept assumes importance in the context of high rate of road accidents and related deaths being reported in the city and across the country. Commissioner of Police M.A. Saleem pointed out that 1.5 lakh people die in road accidents in the country every year.

As many as 757 road accidents were reported in Mysuru during 2014, while it was 910 in 2013.
