The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has alleged that Hindutva fundamental forces were behind attacks on Dalits, minorities and outspoken writers and scholars across the country.
Addressing a media conference here on Saturday, BSP State unit president N. Mahesh demanded that the Union and State governments curb the activities of “forces disturbing peace” with legal actions against them.
“Just imagine what happens to the country and its law and order system if the victims of right-wing extremism and the peace-loving people take law into their hands and retaliate. The government should not allow such a desperate situation to arise,” he said.
Mr. Mahesh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Union government were deliberately encouraging the attacks on oppressed sections and writers just to divert people's attention from real issues.
“None of the BJP’s pre-poll promises, including one on black money, have been fulfilled in the last one year of their rule. The Centre’s anti-people and pro-corporate policies are deepening the crisis further and causing unrest in the society,” he said.
He also criticised the Congress-led State government for failing to maintain law and order and to control disruptive activities.
