Around 150 autorickshaws and several passenger-ferrying three-wheelers were part of the ‘Navalgund Chalo’ staged in support of the Kalasa-Banduri Nala agitation.

Hubballi Autorickshaw Owners and Drivers Union, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) Swabhimani Bana and Kannada Kranti Deepa had jointly organised the protest to express solidarity with the farmers of Navalgund and Nargund who have launched an indefinite dharna for three months now.

Led by president of the autorickshaw owners and drivers union Shekharaiah Mathapati, president of KRV Swabhimani Bana Ravi Bejawad, president of Karnataka Kranti Deepa Ravi Kadam and others, the protesters marched across Hubballi.

Starting from Laxmi Complex on Neeligin Road, the protesters marched from Kittur Chennamma Circle to the road leading to Navalgund, after which the march moved in autorickshaws and other three-wheelers to Navalgund.

At Navalgund, the protesters paid tribute to the farmer’s memorial before meeting the farmers on agitation. There they took part in the dharna and extended their support to the demand to complete the long-pending drinking water project.
