Petroleum dealers in Mysuru region have alleged pressure from public sector petroleum companies to increase their sales.
At Jagruthi-2016, a meeting organised by Federation of Mysore Petroleum Traders (FMPT), petroleum dealers complained about the strong-arm tactics resorted by petroleum PSU’s to increase sales in their respective retail outlets.
“How much stock can we keep?” asked FMPT honorary president S.K. Dinesh. “They expect us to sell five litres of fuel to a motorist who asks for two litres,” he said, claiming that three PSUs are competing among themselves and not private oil companies.
Rights and duties
During the meeting, Ashwani Attrish, member of the Steering Committee of Consortium of Indian Petroleum Dealers (CIPD), advised the petroleum dealers about their rights and duties. The petroleum dealers were advised to resist pressure from oil marketing companies to meet internal targets.
Various other issues, including uniform taxation so that petroleum products have a uniform price across the country, was discussed. President of Akhila Karnataka Federation of Petroleum Dealers, B.R. Ravindranath, and president of Federation of Mysore Petroleum Dealers Association, Shashikala Nagaraj, were present, along with 350 petroleum dealers from the region.
