Rally taken out against drug abuse

Students of various educational institutions joined hands with police personnel to spread awareness about the perils of substance abuse by taking out a jatha here on Friday.

The event was held to mark ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’.

Speaking on the occasion, Medical Superintendent of Apollo BGS Hospitals in Mysuru, Anjali Arun cautioned that individuals addicted to various drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and other substances are also at risk of committing suicide. Mysuru Urban Development Authority Commissioner S. Palaiah said steps should be taken in educational institutions to deter younger generation from taking to drugs.
