Bharatiya Janata Party national president Rajnath Singh joined the ongoing Akhil Bharat Pratinidhi Sabha of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh here on Saturday.
Arriving from Delhi after formalising the list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, Mr. Singh was driven to the sabha venue at Thanisandra here.
Ongoing sessionSources in the RSS told The Hindu that the leader was expected to join an ongoing session of the swayamsevaks.
“Mr. Singh is participating in the capacity of a swayamsevak and not as the BJP national president,” asserted the sources, which is the normal practice in the RSS.
The session is discussing steps to strengthen the organisation and vision of the RSS for the coming year and Mr. Singh would contribute his ideas, the sources said.
The BJP president is expected to stay overnight here and attend the valedictory function of the pratinidhi sabha on Sunday, the sources added.
About 1,400 prominent Sangh Parivar functionaries including Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat are participating in the event.
