Rajashekhar Bhoosnurmath dead


Noted scholar and teacher Rajashekhar S. Bhoosnurmath (77), considered a pioneer in science fiction in Kannada, died in Dharwad on Saturday night.

Son of S.S. Bhoosnurmath, a noted scholar, Rajashekhar was a recipient of the Kendra Sahitya Academy Award. He has to his credit close to 100 publications that comprises plays, novels, stories, science handbooks, and a quarter of them were written in English.

Rajashekhar is survived by wife, Shailaja, two sons and two daughters. A resident of Girinagar in Dharwad, he wrote under the penname ‘Rabhoo’ and had a large following for his science fictions, which appeared in popular Kannada magazines in serial form. He also introduced various literary and academic initiatives as the principal of Karnatak Science College, Dharwad.

‘Pocket Pendulum’, ‘Bhavishyavadhana’, ‘Operation UFO’, ‘Touchyrama’, ‘82253’, ‘Alpha Sadhane Mattu Shoonya Sadhane’, ‘Kalpa Dhayana’, ‘Kirana’, ‘Alternative Therapies: Techniques for Healing & Happiness’, and ‘Paranormal Phenomena’ are some of his noted works.
