Heavy rains that occurred across Halebid in Belur taluks on Sunday affected normal life, besides damaging a few buildings.

Residents of the two tourist places experienced heavy rain between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. The residents were forced to stay indoors, while tourists had difficulty in finding shelter. The compound wall of the Government Higher Primary School collapsed during the rain. Roads and drains were flooded, leaving the roadside shopkeepers and street vendors worried.

A few tanks near Halebid, including those at Rajanasiriyur, Hulikere and Kattesomanahalli were filled due to rain.
