Many parts of Hassan, Alur, Belur and Sakleshpur taluks received rain on Wednesday. Normal life was badly hit, while farmers were happy.
Rain lashed Hassan town heavily, causing flooding in many localities. Traffic was impacted badly in many areas. The students had a tough time in reaching their destinations after school hours.
Alur town too received heavy rains. Rohit, who teaches in a college in the town, felt that it was the first heavy rain in the town this year.
However, the rainfall recorded in Hassan this year so far is less compared to the corresponding period last year. The water level in the Hemavathi reservoir at Gorur stands at 2,887.22 ft. against the full reservoir level of 2,922 ft. Last year on this day the water level stood at 2,919.64 ft. The live storage as on Wednesday morning is only 11.26 tmc ft., while last year on this day it was 33.49 tmc ft.
