Puttaraju seeks special package for Mandya

C.S. Puttaraju, MP, has requested Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to announce a special package for the comprehensive development of Mandya district.

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Mr. Puttaraju urged the State government to announce the special package during the proposed visit of All-India Congress Committee vice-president Rahul Gandhi to Mandya.

Minister for Cooperation and Sugar H.S. Mahadeva Prasad, who is also chairman of the State-owned Mysore Sugar Company Ltd., is conspiring to sell the sugar unit, he alleged.Mr. Puttaraju said he would soon discuss with the Chief Minister about the revival of the sugar unit.

M. Srinivas, former MLA, and president of the Mandya district unit of Janata Dal (Secular) D. Ramesh were present.
